Website
creation 101 guide
This is also part 2a from here
--------------------------------------
This is a guide on what you should, and what you shouldn’t put on your website.
Here are a few things to think about:
- Why
you are creating this site?
- Is it to sell a product, to grow awareness of
your business?
- You need to make your site fit with the reason behind it.
- Is it to sell a product, to grow awareness of
your business?
- Who
is the target audience?
- Age?
- If the site is made for young people, animations and fun characters may be useful to draw your customers in.
- If the site is aimed at the older generation, keep it all simple. I understand that some of the older generation may not have an issue with using the internet, but the vast majority will like it simple.
- Language?
- Not everyone speaks and understands the same language. Integrate a translate system into your site.
- What
colours are your business?
- Make your businesses website colours match with your business and its logo.
- Age?
- Don’t overload your home page with useless information.
- Ensure the site is mobile friendly
- Make sure it is readable
- Use icons as buttons, this makes it easier to navigate.
- Have a Contact page
- There are many HTML contact form makers out there, some include:
- Use a short and memorable domain
- Short domains could be an abbreviation
- Have a Meta title, description and
image
- Having Meta information for your website allows users and future clients to “preview” your website before they click on it.
- This helps your site to stand out when sharing the site on social media or messages.
